Year 2 CW and CF 2019 - 2020

Welcome to year 2!

The children in year 2 CW and CF have settled in beautifully and we are really excited about the year ahead!

This half term, the children have been learning about the seaside.  We read a wonderful story called 'The Seasaw' by Tom Percival and we were delighted to read the children's own versions of the story!  In art, the children have been practising their drawing skills, drawing real life shells and learning how to cross hatch and shade.  They are also making their very own pirate puppets!  In maths, we have been deepening our understanding of number and place value, learning about partitioning, addition on a number line and practising our 2's, 5's and 10's timetables.

At home, children are asked to read to a grown up for approximately 15 minutes each night.  It is also invaluable if an adult can read out loud to them on a regular basis as this gives them a chance to really engross themselves in the story!  A spelling test will be sent home every Friday and completed in school each week on a Thursday.  Lastly, a maths activity is sent home each for children to rehease with their grown up.  This is linked to the learning at school but isn't marked.

We hope your children are enjoying year 2 and we look forward to meeting you at parents evening on Tuesday 15th or Thursday 17th october (please remember to hadn you slip in with your choice of timeslot).

Best wishes,

The Year Two Team :)
