Pupil Attainment
Statutory assessment at primary school is about measuring school performance, holding schools to account for the work they do with their pupils and identifying where pupils require more support.
At the end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6) the tests are more formal and school results are published in national performance tables. This allows for comparison with other schools and are commonly known as league tables. Tests are taken in Reading, Mathematics and Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar (SPAG). This information is shared with parents at the end of Year 6.
An online multiplication tables check was introduced in the academic year 2019-2020. This check takes place in year four and all children are expected to be able to recall their times tables up to 12 x 12.
In Year 1 children are screened for their phonic knowledge. Their ability to decode words. If a child does not meet the standard in year one they are screened again in year two. This information is shared with parents at the end of the year.
At the end of the Reception year children are assessed to see if they have met a ‘Good Level of Development’. This information is shared with parents at the end of the Reception year.
