Curriculum Progression Documents
At Marlcliffe Primary School we strive to provide an engaging, relevant and broad curriculum which develops the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding. Our curriculum is built around the objectives set out in the national curriculum which covers the following subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, Computing, History, Geography, Art and Design, Design Technology, MFL, Music, Physical Education, Languages. Personal Social Health and Economic Education (PSHE) and Religious Education are also part of our curriculum.
Subjects are generally taught discretely to allow secure and progressive disciplinary knowledge and understanding to be developed in all curriculum areas. Links between subjects are made when they support depth of understanding.
Several subjects are supported by published schemes: PE (Get Set 4 PE), PSHE (Sheffield Scheme), Music (SparkYard), MFL (Twinkl), Computing (Teach Computing) and RE (RE Today). These schemes are adapted where necessary in line with our Curriculum Approaches and Key Drivers. We teach a bespoke curriculum for Geography, History, Science, Art and DT with detailed units of work planned in conjunction with subject leaders and experienced year group teachers.
Alongside our commitment to providing an enjoyable and interesting curriculum, we also have a rigorous approach to progress. The objectives set out in the national curriculum have been appropriately designated to different year groups or phases making sure that as a child develops at Marlcliffe Primary they are continually gaining knowledge and developing new skills. We ensure the children are able to share their understanding and successes in a variety of ways, including through our exhibitions of learning.
Our progression documents for each subject can be found below and further information can be found on the subject pages within the curriculum menu.
